Hi ..i thnk you have to take the good with the bad these days..shouldn't have to but apart from complaining and getting a new midwife not much will be done to the rude or rough ones..charm school would be good for some of them...especially the one who upset me and made my hubby furious...she actually said " at your age you should know better"..i was 37..over the hill obviously...asked lots of questions like " you do know about safe sex don't you?"..was insulting and patronising...my hubby had a right go at her and demanded she apologise or he was taking the complaint further...old bag had to in the end..the consultant had overheard her...

I was so embarrassed i didn't want to leave the cubicle because other people must have heard how she spoke to me...i was 37 baby 5 and tbh she was a total surprise( the baby i mean)..i was soo happy at my scan and she ruined it all...so imagine my horror when at the grand old age of 40 i found out i was expecting baby 6...and then my horror as she called out my name...i got up and went to reception and told them i would not have anything to do with her and left...got a phone call and they had arranged for a MW to visit me at home to discuss it..i ended up with a lovely lady who did care and even came to the hospital on my section day to check up on me and baby...
Please don't let one know it all run it all for you mamamoo...as for the numbness well i would definately make a formal complaint and demand treatment for it...why should you suffer...
    hope your ok..

  • For my second pregnancy I was put under consultant care due to the stillbirth of my first son due to a placental abruption at 34 weeks.

I was induced at 38 weeks to avoid another placental abruption and the midwives during labour were so inept they failed to realise that my labour was obstructed despite the many clinical signs. I abrupted again, my uterus ruptured and I was rushed for an emergency section. They then couldn't intubate me (broken equipment, and unable to use alternative method). A consultant had to come in from home and baby was finally born.

I lost 2.4 litres of blood and was sent to intensive care. My son had extensive brain damage and died at 9 days old.

So, I'm certainly not impressed with the care I received.

I'm pregnant again and with a high risk team at a very good hospital. Fingers crossed that this time I will bring a baby home

I'm pleased to hear that you are pregnant again purple and receiving better care :)

I remember you from the PG thread last year and can't begin to imagine what you've been through. I certainly hope they book you in for an early section.

    Oh Purplepardalis! That's atrocious!
My thoughts are with you. I hope all goes well this time, and that everything runs smoothly with your little one!
It's such a shame that the people who we trust with our lives (and our babies') couldn't care less about our wellbeing.

When I was in labour, I was in a lot of pain, and was moaning with each contraction.
The next day, I went down to the vending machine to get a drink, and a woman there said she had been in the bed opposite me on the ward having her 6th child induced, and she had been so worried that she started timing my contractions, and went to tell the midwife that if she didn't do something soon there'd be a baby born on the ward.
Apparently the midwife said "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that you are a midwife. Leave it to us professionals"
  • Thanks guys.

Section is planned for 37 weeks at the latest. I may have to go in at 34 weeks to be 'sat on'. That covers the Christmas period (on purpose, so there would be no delays) and my Christmas dinner will be very MSE - prepaid with my NI contributions!

I still can't believe something so horrible happened to me but I am determined to have that happy ending.

I only hope that the mw that looked after me in my last labour is so horrified at what happened that she takes more care in the future

I'm glad you have such a positive outlook after such a horrible experience, but I can't help but think if I were in your position I would not want any of the same medical team there.
