I thought that household contents insurance policies cover this sort of thing?
I know it covers goods and cards and also think it covers up to £1000 of money stolen.
And? Why didn't you ask the OP if they have insurance? Then you could advise them to make a claim!
lots of people don't have any insurance. I don't.
I don't actually own anything valuable.0 -
most insurance policies have an excess too. you would need to pay this before you receive a pay out.
and if it is JSA, it wouldne be worth it as the excess would probably be at least the same amount.0 -
its not exactly a fortune i suspect most people withdraw the full amount as soon as they get paid.preciousillusions wrote: »You can try calling them, but they may well ask why on earth you withdraw the full amount from your bank account each time like you say you do.0 -
yes they are famous for not paying the asked for amount. that is why people usually ask for more than they need. of course thats not really possible in this case.you can try for a crisis loan, but they will not just replace the money you say is gone, they will pay out up to a maximum of 60% of your usual JSA payment and it will need to be paid back, mamimum of 3 in any 12 month period now.0 -
I wouldnt have thought most people would draw all their money out.
Surely there would be bills to pay by SO or DD, supermarket shopping can be made by debit card, the OP obviously has a bank account.
Most supermarkets will take cards for as little as 50p these days.
Just seems a daft thing to do reallymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Oh you'd be surprised at the number of people who call for a Crisis Loan having withdrawn all of their benefit (sometimes running to hundreds of pounds) and lost it all on the same day. When asked why they do this, few can give an answer besides 'I just do.'
Cynical, me?0 -

Do you seriously think that there is a possibility that this person has bought household contents insurance?
