Hi PoorButRich! I have read your whole diary and I am so glad I did. I have to admit I loved reading about the preparation and subsequent arrival of your DS.
I got completely hooked up because it seems we have a similar standard of income (ie, we can't really overpay £1000s every month!). And the fact that you're managing OPs and a young child tells me that maybe it will be possible for us soon too
I have noticed that you have been feeling down lately. Please don't. I can tell you that your diary has been a real inspiration and showed me that we, too, could overpay and maybe start a family in a year or so (not sooner as I'm starting a new job in September), and maybe even relocate for a better quality of life (which can't happen if we don't up our equity and/or our savings).
Chin up, you're doing wonderfully well. xx0 -

I think there are 2 different decisions to make PBR:
What to do about working?
What to do about this job?
Why are you working? Do you NEED the money or WANT the money? By the time you factor in childcare and guilt treats how much better off are you? Are you on a career path or is it 'just a job'?
As for the bullying - difficult one without knowing the details. Is it just you or others as well? Have you tried standing up to them? Without making it formal is there anyone else you can speak to about it? Otherwise, your line manager and/or HR should get involved.

Am sure that was the right decision to make pbr - life as a working mum is hard enough without having to put up with bullying at work as well. Are you thinking of looking for a different job or will you be restarting your business?
Congratulations on the new house and the new mortgage! I hope you are very happy there.
Lots of things have changed for me recently as well though not quite as dramatically as for you. Money-wise things have become extremely tight as OH quit his job for a fabulous opportunity abroad which turned out to prove the saying 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably is'. He is now back in the UK and trying to find a new job - but until he does, we are down to just my income and it is not enough to cover all our expenses. On top of that our lovely childminder who DS has been with for a year decided to raise her prices by 25% which meant we couldn't afford her anymore. So DS is now settling in at the local nursery - which we hadn't sent him to initially because it's opening hours means I can't really do my contracted hours at work.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Hi pbr...great to hear from you. I was a bit worried with your long silence. I can imagine it's a bit of an adjustment for both you and DS but at this age mummy is always best. To be honest, this is the age when they start playing up and pushing limits so I have great respect for you in handling that. Sounds like you're doing a fab job entertaining him.
I can understand how you feel about not wanting to rely on DH. My DH is currently relying on me and I can see how frustrated he is getting. But things happen in life and you need to adjust. I'm sure your business will pick up and soon you'll have too much work!Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

welcome back pbr and glad that your absence was due to happy reasons. Glad the self employment is going well and I'm sure as you establish yourself, income will become steadier. I have a self-employed friend who needed to work part time to make ends meet to start with - and 3 years n he earns more than I do!
Congratulations on the new house! I'm sure it's worth the extra on the mortgage and perhaps it is your forever house?
A very happy December to you as well.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Happy Christmas pbr! Hope you and the family have a lovely time and that you take some time off to enjoy yourself.
