I take it the guy lives local? Did he file a INR dispute in order to get the money back from paypal? I'm not really sure what happened here
More likely scammer used a stolen CC to feed PayPal gift and that was reversed when the fraud was reported. Or the scammer uses his own CC and then claimed it had been hacked.0 -

It is not greedy to want to sel things on ebay, if that were the case it would mean all of us sellers were greedy..personally I am just a capitalist selling to make money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Isn't the whole idea of making a profit to buy something cheaper than you can sell for.
Is that greed or sound business sense?0 -

Sorry I didn't mean it literally, was just a figure of speech what I should have said is that there is probably a high percentage of both sellers and buyers that have some kind of bad experience with Ebay, I have been a seller and buyer on Ebay for 8 yrs and yes you are correct you do tend to hear about the scams and rip offs on a forum like this and it is horrible to be on the receiving end but on a positive note you can find some great advice and encouragement on here if you need it....

You've been reading to many forums. I've been on ebay since 2000 as a buyer and a seller. Never been ripped off. I know numerous people who buy frequently on ebay don't know one who has been ripped off.
Lol... I only look at this forum.... should have worded it better as I have just explained in my recent reply to theonlywayisup, I do however feel that there is an increase in online scams/fraud/ripp-offs with a high percentage of people being affected and unfortunately while Ebay is an excellent platform for both sellers and buyers it can also be an opportunity for the very thing that has happened to our friend on here, we just need to be really careful and diligent when selling or buying as I'm sure most will agree with, like you I have been an Ebay member for over 8 yrs and have enjoyed the benefits of both selling as well as buying, never had any problems as a seller but have as a buyer unfortunately...

Look at the address you got for him on the Paypal payment. That address will be linked to an account that is linked to either a bank account, credit card or both however it will require a court order to get Paypal to release it so involve the Police. From there, the Police can find out who he is and he can be done.0

Its all fine and dandy saying go to the police but I wouldn't hold out much hope of them doing anything. The amount is just too small for them to take it up - they will say it is a civil matter and to take it up yourself via small claims. There may be a slim chance of the police getting involved if you can show he is a serial scammer but even then I think they have bigger fish to fry. Its not fair, I know, but unfortunately thats how it is.0
