4 year old car 6,900 miles ABS packed in, Vauxhall says tough !

Although our car is almost four and a half years old it has done less than 6,900 miles. This very much lower than the advised 10,000 first year service mileage limit Unfortunately, last week it developed a fault.
The ABS indicator light came on and the speedometer did not operate.
The dealer informed us the control box had packed up & we needed a replacement.
As the car had such low mileage they contacted Vauxhall to see what they would offer Re: replacement.
Vauxhall offered to pay half cost of part & labour.
I wrote to Vauxhall (after paying our half to the dealer) suggesting since mileage was so low, (69% of 1st years mileage limit) obviously there had been a fault in control box. May have been something simple, such as dry solder joint but a fault nonetheless.
Got reply saying more or less - tough.
Can anybody advise on steps I could take now ?
Thanks in Advance

Keep pestering Vauxhall customer services. Never underestimate how much success you can get by making a nuisance of yourself.

depending on your vauxhall these two things work off the abs sensor on the nearside front wheel
this may be faulty or the ring might be
get another opinion at an independant who has something like a sykes pod to be able to read the abs data for this car0 -

Unfortunately they've already replaced box as we couldn't really run about with no speedo. (My wife had to guage her speed by how white my knuckles got when hanging on to door handle  ).
At least given a 12 month guarantee on it.0 -
We had one of the last omega 2.2 estates and at 43,000 the head gasket blew, the excuses they came up with..
Learnt my lesson hard with that car company, they Dont want repeat customHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I had a similar problem with a fiesta I bought - 18 months old 4,000 miles and it needed a new engine.
Unfortunately even though i pestered and pestered, I never got a penny towards it from Fords.
I enven got myself a solicitor and still couldn't get anything from them.''Aim for the moon, because if you miss you will still land amongst the stars''0 -

look at http://!!!!!!/ and under automobiles (Uk) will will find the CEO of vauxhall. send him an email. this usually gets things fast tracked and sorted.0 -
Op has benefitted from about 3/4 of the expected life span of the part... since I brand new part will be installed, is it not fair op should pay a figure that fairly represents the use to-date?
To look at it another way, if it did last the extra 3,000 miles op would have had to pay parts & labour so has likely saved money in the long run......0
