Does anyone know Asda's policy on tattoo's?

Most places where dealing with the public tend to not like visible tattoos; even the police now make officers wear long sleeve shirts in summer to cover tats. Can you cover them over with wrist bands or plasters then they might be ok0

Think I'll stick to Waitrose. Hate the things.
I think that comment only compounds the stereotypical view of people who shop at Waitrose - or indeed the stereotypical views of people who have tattoos - quite an ignorant remark IMO.
As for the OP's situation, I think she should have no issues as 'body art' is generally accepted by most people nowadays - with the odd exception highlighted by the quote above.
I have to state though, when I was 17, I had a couple of tattoos done on my arms (easily covered for interviews) but I wish I hadn't.
As for tattoos on peoples faces and necks - well that's another story.
One of my mates (not the brightest crayon in the tin - and this was when he was in his teens) decided to tattoo himself with a sewing needle and some ink. Unfortunately, spelling was not his thing and on the fingers of his left hand he tattooed L.O.V.E. and on his right hand fingers H.A.I.T :rotfl:
As I stated - not the brightest!
As for shopping in Asda - or Waitrose for that matter, I couldn't care less if the person had tattoos or not - as long as I am served and treated as a customer, I couldn't give a toss.0 -
So you think it is unhelpful for me to point out to anyone who is thinking of getting a tattoo that it may, just may, affect their employment prospects?
In that case perhaps you ought to ask yourself why the limit of your aspirations is a job in ASDA.0 -

Can I ask what you do for a living Jarndyce?
Anyway, it seems Asda aren't as small minded as some on here. Head office say tattoos aren't a problem.
Thanks to all that answered0 -

You can ask, but I'm not telling you. Suffice to say I don't need to worry about whether body art will hinder my next career move.0 -
I just wondered seeing as working at Asda seems to be so far beneath you!
Just for the record I'm looking for work to keep me occupied now that my children are both at school full time, not because I absolutely have to work!0 -

I was at a music festival a few weeks ago and one of the policemen had a visible tattoo. One of those shoulder to wrist designs. We had to ask him how he got away with displaying it. His answer was that he had the tattoo prior to joining, it had no criminal, gang, sexual, religious, football or otherwise connotations and was only visible during nice summer weather. His employer had no issue and had implied that in certain circumstances it made him a useful asset.
But for me I have no tats or desire to have one. I do understand why many people do have them but have always thought that they haven't thought about their reasons for doing so long enough.0
