HTC Wildfire phone on contract not working - Virgin won't replace it - help?

Options
My Mum purchased a HTC Wildfire phone on a Virgin Media contract last month and the phone isn't working properly.

She has been to the Virgin shop, but they refuse to take the mobile back. Any ideas on what to do, and what phone to replace it with? She doesn't use the internet or Facebook/Twitter so any decent phones?

What have Virgin offered? By law, they are required to either repair or replace.
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)
  • MissKeith, from what I re-call they said that she had not been with them too long and said she wasn't eligble for it to be replaced.

Weird I know, but with Orange (who I am with) they send out a replacement phone in 24 hrs.

This sounds like she wanted to return the phone and they rightfully refused. They have to either repair, or replace, not to 'take it back'.

Also, "isn't working properly" is far too vague statement.

They have told her to keep the phone e.g. nothing.

I don't know the full story to be frank.

I would probably find out the full situation then if I were you. There could be numerous reasons why they have told you that. It could be water damaged, physically damaged, a setting issue, she could have asked for a refund which she had no right to, they may have offered a repair... It could be anything really!

This cannot be correct, if it's faulty (unless it's a user-inflicted fault) they will first offer a repair.
They have absolutely no obligation to replace it unless it cannot be repaired.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • True, but the whole thing is a bit strange. She is buying the new phone anyway now.

Why buy a new phone when it would have a manufactures warranty?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I have no idea. When it comes to mobile phones, my Mum has had every make there ever was and is. She can be wasteful in that sense.
