No, honestly, it isn't hard at all. Squeaky does the tricky stuff for you at the beginning so all you really have to do is collect the threads and put them in the collection.
Once you have done your first one you will see how straightforward it is, it's really a bit like knitting but not so intense! (For me anyway)
I'm not going to be much use to anyone until February but I'd be happy to get onto MSN then with anyone who would like some company while they have a go.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

I'm happy to help just allocate me one to do , preferably not gardening! dont have one but anything else would be a pleasure and a learning curve for me really.

Thanks everyone. Right, it's been a long day and I can hear my pillow calling to me.
I'll edit the first post tomorrow morning to show confirmed indexes and authors, prospective ones that I just need the offerer to confirm, and then a list of volunteers who haven't chosen a subject with a mini list of indexes that they might like to choose from.

If you don't need things done super-fast, and you'll give me a set of instructions (and a helping hand if necessary!), I'll pitch in with a collection. Maybe the 'thanks OS' one you mentioned? I could probably spare a couple of hours a week if that's enough...0

I will do gardening if that's OK, but realise that there are possible moves afoot to create a forum for gardening.
I won't be able to get cracking until my assignments are completed (end Jan) so perhaps by then we will have a decision regarding gardening forum v index?
Let me know when a decision has been made.
ThanksThanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Not sure if I'll be any good at it, but I'll volunteer for a Kenwood Chef thread. That should be thistledown or toxic lemon's bag really as they are the experts in the subject - but I'm willing to try doing it and see how it goes, if it will help.0

I'm happy to volunteer for something if there is anything left that needs doing?

About ten minutes I should think
