At this rate I should be able to get my debt under £2000 mark soon, it probably sounds like a piddly target compared to some but on my new income of £160 a month and my 49% interest (what an idiot!!) it's been something I've been clawing at for ages.

    49%?!?!

Have you considered taking out a loan or credit card on a better rate to pay the balance off? That would save you a lot of money in interest. The last time I checked, even the highest rate credit cards were 29-39% interest - which would still save money.

I have credit cards with Barclays (about 29%) and Capital One (39%), and they accepted me even though at the time I had no credit history, was unemployed, and financially linked to someone who was in a lot of debt! I don't know your circumstances, but if I can get one, anyone can, lol!
  • £1.62 today, struggling a bit this month! £1.52 from surveys & 9p loose change into the pot as well as 1p road kill ;) This takes me to £37.06/£150, but that's £37.06 more than I would have had otherwise!
    2nd Purse #036 £46.69/£50.00 :) 3rd Purse £30.02

Thank you for the suggestion, I wish I could, I don't think even the high rate ones would offer me credit. I don't fully understand credit reports but I have a defaulted overdraft and a blip where I applied for every credit card and store card in existance and they were all refused. The only credit I could get were shop direct accounts hence the insane interest rate. I totally trashed my finances in the space of a few days, due to a phase of depression. I do wonder how common that is. I'm grateful I was refused or I would be in a much worse situation now! I will look into the ones you suggested but I have a feeling I'll be told to p*ss off :o

Hey all, had a really bad day on the way to work and some idiot drove into my drivers door on a roundabout at 20-30mph. Too say i was not impressed and a little shaken is an understatement!!! And to top it off it took him 15 mins to relise i was pregnant (5months now and c leary showing with a tight top on¬!!)

So was sent home, all day on phone, ins, docs, hospital etc, bubba is fine thou!!

Still trying to sort out repairs and car hire but as yet idiot has not admitted liability even thou he came into my lane and side swiped me!!

So hubby made me tonight my fav dinner , which also brought bargains at co-op. So saved approx £6ish, only cost me £10. Will update signature when my head stops pounding!!

I have heard of some cards that offer guaranteed acceptance, wouldn't know where to find this though. Maybe start a thread to ask about which ones you would be better trying?

Capital One are pretty easy going on their Classic card though, they call it a credit builder card... http://www.capitalone.co.uk/creditcards/classic-credit-card.jsf

I trashed my finances due to depression as well so you are definitely not alone in that! :o another option you could try is zopa - that is for people lending to people rather than banks etc. I know they used to be very tight on credit but as far as i know they have introduced an option for people with poor credit history.

Just be careful - do not apply for all cards at one time because this in itself affects your credit score - best option is to do some good online searching - there are cards designed to improve your credit - capital one do have one of these card options but there are other companies out there too that might be more likely to offer you a card.

Have you looked at your credit score? this will give you an idea about the likelihood of being accepted or not before you go applying again and affecting your score all over again.
