Most definitely the worst company I have ever come across. If their financial model is not working, perhaps they should chuck it in.

DSG (Currys/Dixons/PCWorld) stopped paying commission in 2009. There is an employee of theirs a couple of doors down from me and he reckons he is struggling since they cut commission. They did all get a small increase in pay in order to make-up the gap, but this was but pennies in comparison to what a good salesperson earned.

I was in there two weeks ago browsing at PCs to set a relative benchmark on pricing/specs.

I overheard a young lady telling a couple of sales people what her total budget was aargh:eek:

They "sold" her a laptop, finance to free up more of her budget and then tried to sell some form of "tech service/support contracrt" to fill the budget. She did purchase the laptop but did manage to wriggle out of the extras, was touch and go though.

How on earth are this lot allowed to keep trying to sell stuff in this way, with utter lies ???? Isn't it about time they were brought to book on this ??

Exactly this, 95% of people working in technology stores have no idea what they are talking about.

It's a scam that every single person working for the company MUST tell you or they don't get commission. Trading Standards should come in and decapitate everyone for the good of mankind.

Or...it could just be one person out of thousands who's a bit of an idiot, and doesn't have a clue. I'll let you decide.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

the problem seems to be more endemic than one idiot judging by the many, many comments & complaints from widespread reports, and also from personal experience of some of the muppets who work there.

Might I suggest they employ honest sales people and a few techies to deal with, errmm..techie issues, so that someone with no knowledge going into their stores is not either mis-sold, poorly advised, or both.....

  • That was exactly my reaction - I told her that she was being lied to and that I would personally be looking at making a complaint - and of course not to buy any extras from them ;)

    To my sales staff :

    - I pay you to make my shop / company profitable
    - I pay you to make people part with their cash in this shop now - right now
    - I pay you to make sure people do not escape and buy from a~n~other shop
    - I pay you to get as much money out of the customers pockets as is possible
    - I make very very little % margin out of expensive TV's and puters
    - I make megga % margins out of AV software & £20 HDMi cables and other overpriced carp

    - but most of all I make mi££ions out of Goldfish !
