Capital One Classic - Application accepted??

So I applied online on Saturday, Monday was a bank holiday and the pin arrives on Wednesday, obviously sent out yesterday. Still don't understand why it didn't just tell me straight away that I'd definately got it? I wonder if it was something to do with applying on a weekend? Who knows?
Yep, some systems do not operate over the weekends and/or nightly. This can be the bank's own one, the CRAs, or the networks between those. When this happens, the applications will need to be queued to be checked automatically when the systems are back online. If you prefer instant results, it's better to do the applications during normal working hours - though in some cases it might mean more users, timeouts, and referrals all the same way
With some banks you can see a difference in the application screen if you start to fill it in after midnight for example.
Good job on the cards though - please remember to pay it in full and on time. It may take a year or two before the mainstream cards offer the head-of-line interests, so you can lean back now :beer:Enjoy the silence...0 -
Just applied too and got the same response - I electronically signed the credit agreement though I didnt download it !!!! I hope they send one in the post. My credit rating is shot and have been declined by Capital One several times outright or been offered the secured card. Anyway, it looks promising so hopefully I also will be a new owner of a credit card but I have learned the hard way - I intend to repay each month. They wont like that but tough.0

This is a blast from the past, seems like a long time ago that I posted this thread.
Anyway in answer to your question, I bank with Halifax. My files are clear now with 2 out of the 3 CRA's the final one will clear next January, so I am nearly all clear now.0 -
Some of the comments in this forum about credit card applications amaze me. I'm not surprised some people are getting rejected as they seem to be ignoring the basic principle of credit. This is a LOAN, not an automatic entitlement. Would you lend £100 to someone you had reason to believe might not give it back? No.0

Not everyone is as au fait with the ins and outs of finance as yourself. It's not taught in schools so people come here for advice. Stick around and share your knowledge. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

It is a double edged sword, yes some people might just take the money and intend to not repay it while others wont.
However people do sometimes deserve a second chance and I include myself in that bracket. I got myself in to all sorts of problems with credit cards and bank borrowing for numerous different reasons. I suffered the 6 years of not being able to access any other borrowing as a result of bad decisions and sometimes lenders throwing money at you. So part of the problem has to be placed at their front door as well.
Anyway I have completely turned my finances round as a result of past mistakes. I now borrow sensibly and repay anything in full every month, without fail. Since my journey began again in 2010/11 I have never paid a penny in interest on any of my cards. I have never utilised my overdraft facility, it there for emergencies only and my current account now works for me not the other way round. I also now have some savings, not a fortune but still something to fall back on if needed and I try to keep adding to it when I can afford it.
If it hadn't been for the past I do not think I would have got to where I am now and if the first CC company (Vanquis) had not taken a chance on me, I would likely still be where I was.
So no it is not a right to get given a CC or other financial products but sometimes without that first step people would not be able to turn things around and maybe everyone should be given a second chance! Sometimes it all somebody needs and criticism isn't the answer.0
