Best Dog Repeller?

I'm looking for a good Dog Repeller to stop yappy annoying dogs..
I'm looking for a small handheld device that could be used discretely and not always necessarily pointed direct at the animal!
Ive seen various ones on Amazon, inc Dog Dazer II, PestBye Dog Repeller, "Ultrasonic Dog Chaser" and the more expensive KEMO dog alarm sonic repeller.
I know some of these work and some don't but i'm looking for :
1. Ultra sonic so inaudible to humans
2. Loud to dogs, some go up to 135db! some less, so the louder the better
3. The strongest/widest range - some are 5m pointing at the dog, some are 600m2!
Not to bothered about cats, just canines really.
I suppose i could just buy 3 from Amazon and return any (or all!) that dont work as it can vary from dog to dog.
Does anyone have any experience with these?

Are those your dogs?
I have a feeling they are not.
Do you really feel it is right for you to inflict this type on noise on ALL dogs within a range of your "repeller"?
You DO realise this would not only affect the "yappy" dogs but ALL dogs within the range and very possibly cats too?
Not really sure what yo really want to achieve and why - not very clear from your post.
If this is bout your own dogs and what I said above is wrong assumption - I do apologise.
If I am right in my assumption though - don't even think about doing that.0 -
I am guessing it is to stop the barking or yapping of dogs next door or nearby. I can understand that it is annoying - our previous neighbours had two large dogs - a German Shepherd and a cross breed. They used to bark constantly throughout the day at the slightest thing that moved. Our neighbours had a dog flap and were out at work all day, so the dogs were largely left to their own devices in the back garden, though it was secure.
Having said all of that, I didn't consider purchasing any device like this, annoying though it all was. The best thing was when they moved out0 -
If this is the case, the best thing would be to have a word with the neighbours, the owners of the dog/dogs as they may not even be aware od their dogs barking while they are out.
To do anything else, to try to "sort out" the dogs without the owners knowing - just simply not right.0 -
Although many of these devices are marketed for use against neighbours noisy dogs, and I do t believe there is any law against their use, I do t think they would be very effective.
If the dog is barking constantly, there is a reason for it, making the dog miserable by blasting it with sound isn't going to help, if anything it will make them worse.
You'd be far better off talking to the dogs owners to get to the root of the problem. The owner may not realise the dog is barking if they are out when it happens. If that fails you can go to your local dog warden for help. The owners will be given guidance initially on stopping the barking, but if it doesnt improve in a certain amount of time (won't be an immediate thing, dogs need time to adjust and settle to the routines that will be suggested to help) then the owners will be made to do more to keep the animals quiet. The wardens will need you to be truthful and cooperative, and you will probably need to keep a diary of the noise, so start nowPlease excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!0 -
I did talk to my neighbours about it, but it got me nowhere. They did seem surprised at my feedback, didn't realise the dogs were so noisy when they were out, but did bu**er all about it
To illustrate how annoying it was, I remember once being on the phone inside my house when they started barking at something. The person I was talking to, knowing I'm a cat person, said they were surprised I'd got a dog! I had to tell them they weren't mine.

Then you need to follow the next part of my advice.
When you say they have done nothing, have you asked them what they have done? How long has it been? As I said, dogs, like children, take time to settle to new things, only you can't reason with a dog like you can a child. I do understand how annoying it is, our neighbours dog barks everytime someone geos to their door, not so bad you'd imagine, except our neighbours have visitors every 10 minuites or so! We are in the diary making stage at the moment (it's not only their dog that is the problem) and we don't really know what will come of it as it's not constant, but if we do nothing, nothing will happen.
Do you have cats? If so one of those devices will drive them nuts, and if allowed out they'll find themselves new 'servants' very quickly. Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! This is what i'm trying to find out, but cats are not a problem, and for the other posters, there are no other dogs in the area0
