Vodafone tactics

Had a bizarre experience with Vodafone tonight. Yesterday, I rang up for my PAC code thingy as I'm looking around for a new phone and Vodafone hadn't tried to upgrade me after my contract ended in Nov. They took a token interest in my other possible packages but said quite quickly that they'd be sending it this week. All well and good I thought.

Then tonight a chap from Vodafone called me and virtually demanded to know who I was switching to and I said 3 as I'd just seen a decent-ish deal with them. He immediately slagged them off, saying do I know they use O2's network and they disconnect 3 calls if the O2 customers need the network, and they have no customer support, foreign call centres and anyway Vodafone have 20 million customers and they can't all be wrong.

He then tried to offer me a 'better' deal by quoting me £20 for 125 minutes and 250 texts per month but that's £4 more than I'm paying now!! When I pointed that out he repeated the statement about 20 million customers and sarcastically wished me the best in getting a cheap deal.

I was quite taken aback by the rudeness of the call and the scaremongering tactics employed and will now make sure I move from Vodafone - up to now it was just a vague idea.

Not quite the same but .... also am leaving Vodafone, rang them to see if they'd offer anything. They asked who I'd be going to and I also said 3, the guy started telling me how rubbish they were, his mother had a phone with them and reception ( on her phone ) was unreliable but Vodafone had great reception. No offers. I thanked him and finished the call.

they do seem 2b going down the pan these days.... u know what they say, pay peanuts get............
  • There's no need for such rudeness!
Did you get his/her name? You could put a complaint into Vodafone!!

Just to let you know, my 12 year old son had a new mobile (ZXE) from 3 at Christmas. However, the main page in Planet 3 is full of !!!!!!! Admittedly, Some of it you have to enter your credit card details for age proof but not all of it.
Including a free 'post a picture page', where girls/men have sent pics in of different body parts, and doing different sexual acts.
So, if you are giving a phone to a younger family member be careful,

This is only my experience with 3 I hope you have no problems.

    Good Luck

PS My son no longer has the mobile, but his Dad does.... :rotfl:

I wonder how much sales will go up after posting this reply?

I rang them late November asking for my PAC code as my contract had run out the month before (didn't realise) and they couldn't offer me a package any different to the 125 mins and 250 texts I have for £20 per month. I don't need those text but just asked if they could swop them around i.e. 250 mins etc but they couldn't even though my monthly charge is double what it should be each month.

By Christmas I still hadn't received my PAC code so rang again and explained I still hadn't received it. Person I spoke to was very pleasant and he offered my 250 mins and 100 texts for £35 to which I obviously said no to. He then came down to £30 for same package and I said it wasn't what I wanted so he said think about it and email after Christmas! Anyway I could see I wasn't getting anywhere & knew I wouldn't secure a new contract with anyone before Christmas so said I would. I emailed him on 2nd Jan as he asked and said no thanks, please send PAC code & also quoted other contracts people had got with O2 etc and he came back and said he'll see what he could do. I still haven't heard from him and emailed again asking for code. I've tried calling and asking for it and got no where either!! What are they playing at I wonder???:confused:
  • I had a similar experience with T-Mobile where they wouldn't offer me decent upgrade and asked me to continue with a loyalty discount of £15 a month in lieu of a phone. The discount on my account was alreay there from the last upgrade year. I told them i wanted a new handset and the continued loyalty discount (is this unreasonable?) anyway the chap (or should i say !!!!) was quite rude and tried to mock me. Hang on here im the customer, and if you cant offer me what i want just say so, i will go elsewhere. There's no shortage of networks these days.

Seems to me that certain networks (TM/VF) seem to think they are above the rest, what they perhaps fail to realise is that they are not above their customers.

  • Hi,

Working for Vodafone as part of a department who monitor customer feedback on internet forums I'm sorry to hear of the problems people have been having, firstly to wearewolves & somerset re: your upgrade discussions. With regards to this it is hard for me to comment directly due to being unable to see your account notes, however if you did want to contact our email team then there are details further down where we could look into the situations you mention and at the very least feed the comments back into the business, should you wish.

Lara, I'm also sorry to hear of the trouble you've had. If you also wanted to get in touch with us (again, details below) we can look into obtaining your PAC without any further delay directly from our porting department.

kai666, regarding the menus on Vodafone Live! - the Live! template menus do change themselves after the watershed. The feedback we had at Vodafone was that SIM updates were performed back in November 2006 to improve overall security (on top of the standard content control). If the SIM update has been successful there should now be a confirmation page before linking to the actual 18+ adult content (beyond the advertisement menus). It also shouldn't be possible to proceed to the Live! adult menu without having the content control bar lifted on the account. Again, I appreciate this can be a sensitive subject and also the importance of content control on mobiles. If anybody else does require any further information on SIM updates or Vodafone Live! then our team would be happy to address any issues (details below)

Finally, if you did want to contact us it's possible to go to https://www.vodafone.co.uk, select 'contact us' then 'email'. This is the standard contact route for incoming customer services email, however if you leave the short-code FIT135 in the body of the text (e.g. at the beginning of your message) this will route you directly through to a specific team (as mentioned above) who monitor online feedback and can take on board your comments directly and address any issues you may have.

Also, for any general (e.g. non account specific queries) we've got staff who will try to help with these directly on the forum itself :)

I'm glad to see Vodafone monitor forums I started working for them in November '06 and I think they are an amazing company to work for and trust me it wasn't easy to get in either, though I am working in the business team not consumer.
They don't pay peanuts and they look after us and in turn I work as best I can to keep Vodafone customers happy as I am a mobile user and understand the frustration that all mobile users have. I can't wait to move my contract over to Vodafone and I even want to move from talktalk broadband to vodafone broadband :)
