To be honest that's what I thought same as passports I am only 33.
Don't understand how they can have mine for 3 and my husbands is 5yrs. something a miss somewhere surely!
  • When did you get your provisional? And how long after did you pass your test?

When you get your first provisional photo card licence it lasts for 10 years. When you pass your test and have it exchanged for a full one, the 10 years carry on from when you first got your provisional. Not from when you passed your test.
  • I know if you lose your licence and get a replacement, the photocard is only valid for the length the original one.

For instance, mine is January 2006 - January 2016. If I replaced it now it would only be valid until January 2016 still, as it is the photo that expires after 10 years.

Have you had a replacement at all?

My licence is valid from my test pass date, even though I had my provisional licence in August the previous year.

Of course it is valid from your test pass date. It will expire 10 years after the the date you got your provisional unless you supplied a new photo when you passed your test.

No, it expires 10 years after my test date. Not 10 years after I got my provisional.

(Actually, 10 days after the date I passed my test for some reason!! 31/01/06 - 31/01/16 - I just got it out to check hehe)
