Mobile unlock not possible - can I sue Three for a new phone???
Options
I have had my current Nokia 6500 for 3 years and it's ace. Problem is, it's locked to Three. I keep trying to leave Three but they won't let me go!
I decided to pay them the £15 to have it unlocked and they duly tried some codes, but none of them worked. Although they now say they will not be charging me the £15 (I should damn well hope not!), but now I have no phone and have already signed up for a 12 month sim only deal with Orange!
Can Three do this to me? I have long since bought this phone - it is mine, not theirs, they messed it up and now I am out of pocket thanks to them. They say they are not responsible - but surely they are? Surely they owe me a phone?
They offered to extend my Three contract at a reduced rate - big deal - who is going to pay the Orange contract I can't use?

Ask them to refund £15, add £5 and try some other company:

The phone was yours from the start and you were allowed to unlock it at any time. However, this is not supposed to be free.
And it is normal for subsidized handsets to be locked. Do you prefer to pay the full price? Buy a sim-free one then.0 -
I unlocked my BB5 for £10 at my local mobile telephone shop. Took a few minutes. No drama.0
