I am looking for a starter camera and have narrowed it down to either a nikon coolpix L110 or a fuji finepix s2970. Both are similar in price does anyone own either of these to give me any idea which would be best.
thanks

Are they? Fujifilm have been around for donkey's years. An earlier version of the Finepix mentioned was one of the best cameras I ever owned.
OP - either will be great. But I'd go for the Fuji Finepix if I had to get a camera at that price. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
A Canon..........
Despite owning lots of excellent nikon gear, presuming the op is looking for a good quality p&s, I would agree with you.
Nikon's coolpix range isn't that great (in relative comparison to their excellent slr products). Of the two I would also go with Fuji but consider looking at comparable canons.0 -
Either will be a great camera, personaly I like Fuji, I find them really easy to use, no fancy techy terms in the menus, does what it says on the tin, I've always had Fuji digi cameras, I currently have a Finepix S6500fd which is now 4 years old and still going strong, cost £180 new and does the job very well indeed, it has been used and abused, has been in the Sahara Desert, it's been on fishing trips and been used in rain and snow.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Really, never heard of Fujifilm? You think a low end (£120) Nikon camera will carry the same quality as the higher end stuff, you could just be paying for the name.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

I have a Nikon dslr but Fuji have been making digital cameras from the beginning and were making slrs before that. Panasonic are reckoned to make some of the best digital cameras and they are an electronics company.0 -

And fuji were the first company to introduce a digital camera with removeable media and that was in the 1980s, Nikon didn't introduce a digital camera until 1999 so Fuji have more experience in this area, also Fuji have far more experience in the £50 - £200 market, when a premium brand company introduces a product into a more bargain price band it is usually not so good and basicaly lives on it's brand name rather than quality or features.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
