If I install a DVD writer in my PC and also keep the original CD rom drive installed, where do I connect the 4 pin audio analog output from the DVD writer?
There's only one audio analog input on the motherboard and that already has the lead from the CD rom connected.

to be honest seeing as all audio is digital these days it doesn't matter to leave it disconnected, sound from the discs will simply be passed through the ide cable with the data0

By using the IDE cable to transfer the sound it remains digital all the way to the sound card
with the analogue cable it goes, digital-analogue-digital so you are just adding noise to the signal

As said if you dont have a soundcard the IDE cables will do the work, I just keep the cables for some older PCs as I reckon the sound is a tad better, either that or my hearings getting worse :rolleyes:0 -
yes kevin & 30111987 & jdavies I'm playing a cd now and i've disconnected the 4 pin lead from the mobo, you're right.
So why is it fitted in the first place?Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0
