Only two more days until the weekend....cant' wait! Special weekend as going to Baptism and I have been asked to be Godparent to a very special little baby boy
On MSE side, I have three of Martins books at the ready to read of an evening/weekend. Hoping I can pick up some more tips and give myself and OH a real money makeover :money:
OH and I keep our finances separate apart from household stuff and also no joint accounts due to my bad credit history. It'll have to stay like that for a long while. We have an account solely for joint finances in OH's name which pays mortgage, bills etc and we have two savings accounts in OH's name one for wedding and one for longer term savings. Not that we have much in our longer term savings, that'll have to wait until after the wedding but the intention is there somewhere
Speaking of savings, I realise that I do not account for anything budget wise each month re xmas, bdays, car, holidays and so on....it's no wonder I never have any money!! I think this is def an area I can start work on immediately an set up online savers for each of these things. I will start them for use of next years that way I can really go for it with the debt busting! Also need to set up a little 'me' wedding fund that'll pay for my nails, few facials etc prior to wedding fund.
Is it sad that i'm sitting here excited thinking about all of the above???
So again no list for me today, just too busy with work. Good 10-12 hour days being done at the moment. Only another week to go though and we are off for a whole week - woo hoo!!
I will however list that I will check online banking and make a payment to the dreaded Lloyds CC. Not sure if i've mentioned before but Lloyds is charging the highest interest and has one of the highest balances so I think it's sensible option to overpay at the minute on this one until I work out a little plan of action.
Have a good day all,

Morning diary,
Wow, another week has just flown by! Can't beleive it's Monday all over again and another start to a new week. Madness.
Anyhow, busy past few days for various reasons. First being work and then a lovely baptism yesterday where I was godparent to a good friends little boy. A really nice day
Also yesterday I think my OH officially had his very own LBM :T Not that he has a huge amount of debt (less than 2k) and has a good amount of disposable income etc but it's a week before payday and he was just very concerned about where all his money was going. He checked through his statements and realised that he'd wasted a good £200 odd on nothing, literally just random spends like a choc bar and drink at garage (he buys lot of fuel), mc'ds on way home from work (shifts), magazine, eating out is a vice for both of us.
We realised that we had become complacent again yesterday, I realised a little sooner than him i.e. start of my new diary but it's fab to have him on board too
So we're re-visiting all utilities, food shopping (with a plan), using loyalty point schemes where we can i.e. food and toiletries, saving for things such as hols and xmas, loose change pot for holiday spending money, weekly spending budgets and most of all getting a bit savy where we need to and cutting back. We don't want to get to a couple of years and have nothing to show for our money. We also have a wedding to pay for in April so we are going to look at how further we can cut costs here.
So, a nice fresh start for the both of us. We have week off next week where we will really sit and look at things and get super organised - can't wait!! Sad what we get excited about isn't it :rotfl:
Main aim for my day is a no spend day....simples

Is it sad that I am getting SO excited about the little things OH and I have achieved today....we seem to be on a different level with money since this weekend and very much heading forward positively.....
Today.....
- 83p towards my cc (small overpayment but none the less it's an overpayment
)
- OH removed itemised charge for mobile phone bill
- OH eaten lunch before leaving for work and I cooked up a small chilli for him to take for his dinner tonight - thus no spending money on food
- OH is looking at cheaper options for internet and phoneline
- Worked out a wedding projection for months leading up to our wedding and we will be able to pay for entire day without taking out/using any form of debt. Yes we'll have a tight few months ahead but it'll be worth it and we can still live!! Also if I can sustain this new budget for coming months then it'll mean I can realistically pay an extra £300 per month on my debts come next year....even better!

Forward planning....I now have online saving accounts (piggy banking per MSE :money:)......
- Bdays/xmas
- Car
- Regular savings
- Long term savings
- Wedding mini spends i.e. if I want to treat myself to manicure, facial etc nearer the time....my way of saving towards these costs so not massive come the wedding.
Enjoying this planning business :rotfl:

Just dropped by to say well done on clearing a great big chunk of debt already and to wish you luck on the rest of your journey - you sound very focused so I'm sure you'll do well.
My goal is to achieve a DF status by 31.12.12 too and like you I will also be factoring in a wedding next year, although in my case I'll be mother of the bride
Exciting times for you in the year ahead - Good luck xLBM Aug '07 Debt [STRIKE]£52,615[/STRIKE] DEBT FREE Aug '12 :jCap One CC £[STRIKE]5000[/STRIKE]/£0 - HSBC CC £[STRIKE]7500[/STRIKE]/£0 - HSBC Loan £[STRIKE]12,225[/STRIKE]/£0M&S CC £[STRIKE]11,500[/STRIKE]/£0 - Egg CC £[STRIKE]8750[/STRIKE]/£0 - Sains CC £[STRIKE]3000[/STRIKE]/£0HMRC £[STRIKE]3140[/STRIKE]/£0 - OD £[STRIKE]1500[/STRIKE]/£0Pay off ALL your debt by Xmas 2012 £14,128/£14,128 :j0
