Diary with an end.....31.12.12.....

Hello,

Yes, like many, I am yet again starting a new diary :o My old one has become bitty and I forgot to update (erm I mean didn't bother) and if i'm honest the earlier part of this year I most definitely lost my way on the debt free mission.

So new beginnings with a new goals in sight. A few things have happened these past few weeks that have given me a new found LBM (one and hopefully the last of may I have had) and the kick up the backside required to stop becoming complacent and actually start doing instead of just talking about things.

This week has been the starting point of the journey, I am slowly taking positive steps in many directions but feel the need for a diary not only to keep a record of my progress but indeed the much needed motivation from others too.

So a little bit about what's going on in Choc land. Bought a house just over a year ago, we have now succesfully updated every room apart from the bathroom and have not taken out one penny of debt to do this, we have saved and worked very hard to do it all :T :T:T

Just before Christmas 2010 my lovely OH proposed on a romantic break in Snowdonia and we are due to get married on 28/04/12 :D:D:D

As you can see I have been very busy, and yes some may think money better thrown at the debts but I am a firm believer of balancing everything and because of the volume of debt I have, I need to find the right balance. I do pay over £900 per month towards my debt (and will list these later) each month. Some are on nil interest, some reduced interest and some normal. All arrangements are between me and my creditors and so far are working well.

It is only now that I realise and have done a bit of forward thinking and have decided that times up and they have to go. I need to balance this obviously with saving for our wedding too. We're lucky in that our parents are helping out and we have saved quite a bit already - again all positive. Time now for me to focus on my debts and these are MY debts and I won't have OH paying for them. He already does more than enough to make my life (financially) easier for me and less stressful :A

Right, now i've started my diary I shall pop off and get my figures up to date and add them in another post.

Please excuse my ramblings for the next few posts, it's just whilst I get myself sorted!

Oh and finally if you didn't notice by the title...my end goal to being debt free is 31.12.12. Wish me luck!

Choc x

    Total debt as of 26/08/1132,257.72
    Total cleared to date = £31,606.46 :T

I'm actually quite chuffed with my achievements so far. Almost 50% of my debt cleared since that horrible end to year of 2007. I know it's taken a long time but i'm still happy. Now I have to work out a way to clear the outstanding balance by the end of next year

Have just made my monthly payments so the balance should be sub 31k by time all gone through. Another step forward, can't wait to get it under 30k will def be before the end of this year. Another milestone for me.

Gosh, where did this weekend go??!!

Anyway, nice new start to the week after a lovely long weekend spending quality time with OH.

Small aims for today as busy with work -

    1. NSD
    2. Check online banking - make overpayment to Lloyds CC (no matter how small)
    3. Eat sensibly
    4. 30 mins exercise

Will check in later to update on progress.

    Hi Choc,

Happy New Diary! I am subscribing of course.

Your debts have come down sooo much since your LBM, an inspiration to me whenever it seems like mine are taking ages to come down!

Thanks Jules. It's amazing how quickly they come down and sometimes it's not until you put it in writing that you quite realise how well you have done.

Still, there is room for improvement but I am really pleased that we have managed to do up our house and so far plan/pay for our entire wedding without adding to our debts :T

Once debt free my plan is to overpay on mortgage and also really build some substantial savings for those tighter months or unplanned situations. First thing first though, getting myself debt free!

    Morning diary,

Not so good on the list yesterday so I have decided to try without one today and see where that gets me.

Will check online banking and making a payment to Lloyds CC thought, that's my new PAD project.

    Busy busy with work.....boring!
