Hi all,
This may not be the right place for asking but I really hope someone can help me.
I've suffered serious gross negligence at the hands of Air Asia and having not much joy with AA themselves, I'd like to take this further. From a Google search I cannot find an Asian ombudsman I can write to but I read that AA are registered in the UK (but couldn't find anything to substantiate this after a 15min google).
Does anyone know if indeed AA are registered in the UK? If so, can I raise a situation with the UK ombudsman even if it relates to my flight booking for an Asian flight?
Does anyone know if there is an Asian/Malay body I can write to?
Any advice would be really really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
it would help to know the flight number as this seems to determine the company that you contract with when purchasing the flights, and therefore the juristiction within which that entity trades. It would also help if you could let us know if you bought from an agent of through the website.
It would be helpful to understand the loss too, as this may impact upon whether the contract which you have entered into restricts your ability to claim. If you have contracted directly with an overseas entity, your recourse under local consumer laws may be very different to that in the UK.
Kind regards

Hi Rikbar,
Wishing to remain as anon as poss; it was a flight from Indonesia to Malaysia and the flight number begins 'AK'.
I purchased the flight through AA's website directly and let's just say the amount is fairly substantial and has not been resolved 4 weeks later.0 -
What constitutes 'gross negligence'? It's difficult to advise without the details; we'd be doing you a disservice if we just said 'yes, you can raise this with the ombudsman' if that was the wrong thing to do. In fact, it almost certainly is - there is no travel ombudsman! Complaining about travel problems is complex - it all depends on what's happened. Details such as whether you had insurance are important too."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Giving so little info. hinders people giving meaningful advice. You haven't mentioned what's upset you?0

I do not believe Air Asia have a registered office in the UK but they do have a contact at Stansted probably just agents though. 0845 605 3333 is the number if you wish to contact them to ask.

4 weeks isn't a long time for an Airline to sort out a complaint BTW!0

Whole thread is a bit pointless unless you tell the issues involved.0 -

The name of the airline is Air Asia Berhad - which means it is registered in Malaysia - that took me 5 seconds to find out ! Why do you then ask if it registered in UK ??
Why do you expect people to help you when you don't seem:
1. Willing to do anything for yourself......
2. Give any information............0 -

Moonrakerz, that's a bit unwarranted and quite an assumption that i've done nothing. Why do so many posters seem to relish in having a go at people asking for help?
I know AA are registered in Malaysia but I read somewhere they may be registered in UK so I thought may be people here would know for sure as I couldn't find anything to back that up.
To clarify i'm not asking for help on what happened, I'm asking if there is an ombudsman in Asia. Of course I have googled, quite a lot actually and I am still dealing with AA on the matter which is why I don't want to say too much on a public forum.0 -

But context is everything. If you gave some details as to the issue, it may be that there are other bodies that can support you in your complaint. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
