Update:
Autoglass came out on saturday. And after a lot of chin scratching and drawing breath in over his teeth he agreed to glue it. Its not repaired the screen, I think it'll still fail the MOT, and the OP's chip sounded worse than mine. Good luck!

Oh no!

The man has just left (he arrived early which annoyed me a little because I was out running) but he fixed it and he did the stress test on it and it was fine although you can still see the chip (not as good as the example on their adverts).

Plus he had his little boy with him who hoovered out the interior of my car, cleaned the windows and removed all the birds mess from my passenger door

I'm only a month away from the mot and I think it will have to be changed before then so no worries.
