Tmobile charging for leaving voicemail message on other phones

Today i got charged for voicemail as i accidently called another person’s phone number and it went to their voicemail, i cut that call straight away when I heard the word voicemail on the phone. I got charged 10p.

Spoke to customer service and they are stating that if you leave a voicemail message for someone on their phone or when you call the other person and it goes to their voicemail you get charged 10p.
I was not aware of this, I knew that if you retrieve your own voicemail you get charged.

 I have already sent a complaint to tmobile.

Has anybody else had this charge?

    Erm...are you being serious?

Getting through to voicemail is classed as a telephone call. Always has been. You have connected with the recipients mobile provider...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

    Eh?

You made a call and got charged for it, what is strange about that?

If you are on contract this is usually deducted from your inclusive minutes. If payg, well you pay for calls as you go.

Unless you are on contract and still got charged?

If you called someones landline and got through to their answerphone would you expect that to be free?
Of course you were charged the call was effectivly answered - albeit by an automated service.

I am afraid that this is considered as a connection and you will be charged.

However I hate T-mobile for charging for checking ones own voicemail.
