Unlocking a Motorola V3 RAZR phone - how?

Hi :)

I've got a Motorla V3 RAZR on the Tesco Mobile PAYG service - how do I unlock this for use abroad with other networks (it's quadband)? I did a search which threw up nothing :(

Hiya, if it is a normal RAZR V3 check out this site for details on unlocking the V3. The software it suggests will basically delete everything on the phone and put a fresh bit of software on it.

I have tried it on 2 V3's. It worked fine on one of them but not on the other.
The other still asked for a subsidy lock code when i put a non-orange sim inside it.

If this is the case then just go to a phone shop and get it unlocked. I got mine unlocked for £5.

If you dont mind reading up on it..then try it urself via the info on the web site. If you cant be bothered then get it done in the shop. If you do however decide to do it yourself, make sure you make a backup of the firmware before messing with it.

    :)
  • That site is good, I spent a whole day setting it up on my laptop (damn computers!) but eventually used it to unlock a few V3s.

If you live around Bham I'll help you out if you don't want to use a market

    Now that site looks good!

I've just had my V3 written off but the wife's v3 is still with us.

Why was it written off, because the software tool messed it up?
  • Oh and forgot to add that if you are gonna try and unlock the phone yourself, or make a backup, you have to hook up ur V3 with the USB cable directly to the computer. if you try and do it thru a USB hub, it will not work. I have no idea why that is but it is.
