Second baby on way, what will benefits be?

Picking up from what 3plus1 says about other mums, have you thought that you could use the old barter system of childcare in exchange for beauty treatments? I bet mums would jump at this chance of a little pampering in exchange for a few hours sitting.Integrity is a dying art!:p0

Did you keep any of the baby stuff from the first child? If you did thats the best saving you can make. Think about using reusable nappies instead of disposables. I know they're not ideal for everyone though.
Don't worry about peoples comments on here. Whatever anyone says theres always someone with a chip on their shoulder comes along and winges about the poor tax payer.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
balck-saturn,
Yeah ive still got loads of babygrows etc, gave half away to my next door neighbour, but sure i can grab it back, i borrowed my sisters cot last time so i know ive got that, still got ashs high chair, changing mat etc, even her steriliser so the main thing will only be a pram, but i kno my partner will help out so hopefully it shouldnt be to expensive. Iv got a brother as well who lives up country and his youngest is just one so im sure il get a load off stuff off them.. Im also a fan of primark, they do baby stuff really cheap so if i do need babygrows etc il go there.. x

Thats what id like to do, find somethign that fits in around ash's school hours, i think the school has an after school club as well but dont know much about it..sometimes its hard to find something that suits those hours though but one off my friends told me about flexi-time, and that alot off employers now try and help if youve got children?
I have got loads of friends in my area but most are working so that doesnt really help me, i wonder i f asked theyd give up so i can work  lol..x
welshcakes
I can but ask.. i know id like it, sometimes its annoying because all my friends get the treatments if they come into college or im practising on them at home, i feel quite left out:o ! We practice on eachother at college but after having a facial routine done on you over and over (with no break) you feel like your face is being pulled apart lol , very relaxing , not! x0 -
I did a beauty therapy course when I was younger and for years afterwards worked on saturdays as a make up artist for brides. Your OH could have your children for one day while you do this. I'm busy on saturdays at the moment as I'm in a long distance relationship but when we get married next year I'm planning on starting it up again. In the summer you can earn anything up to £200 for one days work and best of all it's all cash in hand

Thats a really good idea, where did you advertise?
Weekends arent too much of a problem for me as oh doesnt work then, and my sister quite often has ashleigh at her house on sat afternoons, could even start this up in the summer when ive qualified (fingers x'd lol).. x0 -
I started it before I qualified. I advertised in the local newspaper in the classified ads. Ours has a wedding section so yours probably has too. I also had a stand at a couple of local wedding exhibitions which I paid about £30 each to be at but got loads of bookings. After a while you also get recommended to other people if they are happy with your service.skintio wrote:Thats a really good idea, where did you advertise?

Just realised you might be in the same town as me. If thats the case don't do wedding make ups. Its really rubbish pay and the people are awful

remember freecycle to get stuff too. https://www.freecycle.org and join the group in your local area. there is always loads of baby stuff stuff up in the groups I visit.
charity shops and car boot sales are excellent for picking up baby stuff too as most of it has hardly been used and you can get it for pence as a rule. The car boot season will probably kick off again in March.
Congratulation on your pregnancy and well done for retraining and doing to best you can in your circumstances. All credit to you. Just make sure you get the support you deserve from the respective dads - they are as important in this
3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

it is chrysalis but I'm presuming the OP has been on IS since her daughter was born (or at least not working) and therefore wouldn't have paid the NI, so she wouldn't get anymore than the IS would pay0
