if you are this worried about the place, please please please pay a surveyor to come and inspect the property instead of asking on an internet forum (and ignoring any advice you are given)

I was hoping there may be a qualified individual on here before i pay a fortune for a surveyor and save money as in MSE
  • Looks pretty usual to me, although it is difficult to see from the pics.

What exactly is it you are concerned about?

You could post the pics on DIYnot.com in the appropriate section. There are many qualified trademen on there and some of them are helpful. But if this is a mjor concern for you then you may have to fork out for a professional assessment.

Another idea is to get a builder in to provide a free quote to fix it - at least you'll then know the scale of the issue.

What was/is the ceiling made off that was taken down?

I have to say that I still would not be unduly concerned, but I am only going on the little information you have posted.

If you are concerned then you are not going to get a definitive answer on forums like this.

I would suggest, in the first instance, talking to the builder who took the ceiling down then, if you still not satisfied, talk to a structural engineer not a building surveyor
