Don't know where you are coming from, I used it just prior to the post you quoted, and to satisfy my curiosity,I have just now called it and it worked!
The number it called from, via 147, is 020 75700166.

You're not on your own. Their call back service didn't work for me the last time I tried it a few weeks' ago. I got a call back, but then it flipped onto an automated message which told me the number is no longer available and it gave their 0845 number to ring instead.0 -
Phoned Halifax as haven't been able to access my statements online for days - I was told they have a major computer issue which could take several weeks to fix. Doesn't inspire confidence.0
