Post Office currency exchange

Has anyone got experience in buying foreign currency for the post office?

I am think of using the post office to get £250 of Turkish Lira.

I cannot buy over the internet as it is under £500. Do all post offices have the same exchange rate (i.e. local post office the same as the main post office). Also do you have to go to the post office, order the money and pick it up another day?

For some strange reason it is more expensive to go to the post office and order the money than it is to order online. Even if you order online I think that you can have the money delivered to your home or to the post office. And if you do collect it from the PO buy it with cash and not a debit card or you have a further fee.

The Post Office has quite a few different rates - at least 4, and that's not counting better rates for larger sums.

At a small Post Office you order (before 2pm) for collection the next (after 1pm, earlier if they get it earlier - it arrives by Royal Mail SD)
