Hi all
I'm currently with Tiscali (TalkTalk) for my phone, broadband and line rental.
The service is rapidly going downhill, as is my download speed, and I'm looking to change to someone else for everything as I still want everything under one roof.
I've been looking at BT as they have some good deals on at the moment, but can anyone else make any suggestions for alternatives?

Please see my earlier post this evening about Plusnet. I have never regretted changing to Plusnet for both telephone and broadband. Technical support is excellent, the staff are helpful and the price is very, very favourable. Before moving to Plusnet I had very poor service from my ISP at an inflated cost.

+2 - I cannot fault Plusnet at all and the customer service is excellent.0 -
I take it you want all 3 services from the same provider, only 3 i know who can give all 3 are BT, Virgin and sky.0

rmg - if you're an ex-tiscali customer (as am I), you may well find the support through the forums is better quality than direct on the phone. I always use the forums for such things, although other than one line fault, it's been for profile changes. What router are you using and what are your line stats like??......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

i changed to bt when we moved recently,i paid a years line rental up front for £120(£10 month),got unlimited internet for £10 month, and option 3 calls package for £5 a month(all calls except mobiles, premium rate but incs 0870 and 0845),so the whole lot for £25 a month
previously id been with aol for years (£10 month unlimited)with no issues, but bt offered me a new line; which i needed for free(£130)if i took b/band0 -
All depends what is available on your exchange. do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com look for your available LLU providers.
TT to BT: frying pan to fire...
However, if the line is already LLU'd, then your only option may be t take your line rental back to BT on a return to donor, this is free but requires a 9m line rental contract. You can then place your broadband with your preferred ISP.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
if you have an orange phone (i think you need one to get round ofcom rules?) then orange do a package of broadband up to the level your exchange can supply, all standards phone calls free and line rental included for £19.50 a month for an 18 month contract including vat
ive just got this at work business line for £21.50 a month with 18 month contract, the day it got changed over the phone line went dead but internet speed went from 4.2 to 5.7 i rang orange after emailing them and after 25 minutes on the phone i got a repair date for the broken line after running a few tests, they gave me a window of 3 days later but the repairer turned up next day due to another job being cancelled
so i was fully on air within 24 hours
very happy
and saving nearly £300 over bt terms per year0 -

I would like all 3 services from one provider and Virgin don't supply to my area.
The router is a D-Link DSL-2780 supplied by TalkTalk as apparently they couldn't do any proper tests on my line as I was using a Belkin router.
What line stats would you like?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

line sync speed, attenuation (dB) and SNRM, upstream and downstream for both. Can be found by logging into the router and it'll be on something like a Status page
As you should be on full LLU, one thing you can do is get them to turn off the Dynamic Line Management on your connection (yes, LLU providers use thier own versions of this horrible system also) The forum teams can help with this and general speed/service issues. Isn't instant as it's via a forum but they generally get there
In order to help, work through the Reporting Slow Speeds sticky before you post, so you've got all the info together. Probably most important bit will be running the router from the test socket to eliminate internal wiring issues (and check all microfilters, a duff one will stuff your connection). They usually get it sorted in the end.
One other thing to bear in mind if you want to switch, then your line will have to revert to BT (in almost all cases) for a minimum contract period (was 12 months), so be sure to investigate fully......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
