I'm surprised no one has mentioned the insect vacs. Cost about £10 and you just hoover them up and then drop them unscathed outside. I only do this for massive ones as Spiders don't bother me.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Spiders are ace, they're cute little critters who eat all the nasty bugs in the house.

... I wonder if your £10 sucker could suck up that sucker ... failing that maybe you could just use those tweezers the geezer on the programme used!

I've become a lot braver over the years and once I've got them trapped under the glass, and as long as the card is sturdy enough to hold them there until I can fling them out through the kitchen door, I'm fine! I position a few glasses and cardboard squares around the house. We've had some monsters this year though, and I hate the way you can hear them patter across the floor - eek! But, I do hate to kill them. Once I was putting the glass down and the spider moved quickly - I squashed him - was not nice!
Had an entertaining evening last week though - I decided to fling one out through the patio doors in the bedroom, and a bat flew in - so then had to chase that round the house until it flew out again through same doors. Prefer the bat to the spider any day!0 -

What like the one from Lakeland I mentioned back in post #5.thespiderspeed wrote: »:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Thanks for the pic OP, I'm going to have nightmares now!
I find the hoover does the job. Or a good hefty book. :rotfl:
Altough, if you don't want to kill them, Lakeland does a spider-catcher http://www.lakeland.co.uk/20455/Spider-Catcher0 -
Oh god, if I'd seen any of the ones in those photos (that I scrolled over very quickly, thanks peeps!) the neighbours would be calling 999 as they'd have thought I was being murdered in here! I am terrifed of those massive scuttly ones. The OH has been away for the past few nights and I'm so thankful I've not come across any, it would be just my luck.
Money spiders are fine, I'll let them crawl on my hand even. The ones with tiny bodies and very fine legs - okay also, I just squint and pretend they're daddy long legs without the wings. If I'm brave enough I'll take a glass and card to them as they're really slow.
Anything else - no. The cat is useless. I put him front of one running around in circles once, he just looked at it then walked off. I don't like to see them killed though, if the OH is around he'll usually get rid of them, even though he's not a big fan either. If he's not around, I'm afraid it's the vax. I've seen those spider vacs, they all seem to have the clear plastic tube. The sight of Mr.Spiddick (as my dad used to call them) flying towards me in the tube would be enough to make me drop the thing. What I need is a non-clear tube, fully extendable, with dyson powered suction.
Fingers crossed for one more spider-free night. Now I've posted about them I'm expecting one to show up any minute now.....:eek:Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0
