Esure..ripped off for telling them of Car Registration change!!!

Called my car insurance Esure today, to inform them I now have a pvt reg plate for my car and give them the details as you are duty bound.

And for doing so have been charged £26 !!! What a con....a supposed admin charge for sending me a new insurance doc with the new reg.

Am I the only one in thinking £26 is severe ???? to say the least...... Raging.....

Has anyone else been charged for this by their car insurers ???:mad::mad:

  • Most insurers charge a flat rate fee for administration which is clearly documented. There are insurer's that dont and instead build it into the cost of the premium you pay irrespective of if you make changes or not.

Its up to you to decide if you want cheap up front cover with more expense if making amendments or a higher price up front knowing amendments wont carry an admin fee.

If you dont like admin charges then why did you choose an insurance company that has admin charges? You could have picked one without admin charges but increased premium instead.

It seems quite reasonable to be honest. I think £25-35 is the ideal "fair" range nowadays.

Who did you think would pay for the additional paperwork and time of the insurance company staff ?

Read your esure policy booklet and you should see the following :
    7. Changes to your policy
If you make any changes to your policy details or cover at any time during the period of cover, we usually charge
an administration fee. The current fees are shown in your Schedule.
So, tell us what charges are shown on your Schedule. If not shown, you have grounds for complaint, if shown .....

There are lots of threads on here where people do not like the admin charges, but as others have already said, you probably selected the policy, mainly based on the fact that it was cheap. If you want a better level of cover with a better level of service and no admin costs, then choose a different policy and pay the extra premium. It's simple economics. If you didnt read the T&Cs when you purchased the policy then you cannot complain after the fact.

try this buy a new car admiral charge £25, change it to private plate £25
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If your daft enough to spend hundreds or thousands on a private plate, why worry about 26 quid?
You obviously have money to chuck away.

That's good news. It means that they are applying their £25 admin charge uniformly and fairly.

Nice to see the continuing MSE tradition of using "ripped off", or "scam" in the title when what is really meant is - "charge which is in line with the terms but I don't like".

Or couldn't be a*sed to read the documents and terms of what I was buying so lets call it a scam instead.
