My son has a rolling contract with virgin for 4.99 per month. He gets 100 minutes and unlimited texts. We have just received his bill and there are approx 500 texts to 32665114 charged at 15p per text. I've rang virgin and they don't know what the number is but suspect it will be some internet number. I have rang a number (phonepayplus) and they think its a notification number from Facebook. does anyone know anything about it.

many thanks

I think its Facebook mobile. They send you a text every time your account is updated. Facebook don't charge for the service but standard network rates apply. It has taken me ages to find this info so I can see how easily kids get caught out. They just think they are signing up for a free service. He has taken it off his account now. Luckily it didn't rack up a massive bill. £56 which is bad enough but it could have been a lot worse.

it is fb. i use its sms side. the texts come out of my standard sms free bundle count. fyi i am on orange contract. fyi2, also have the ex, she on orange paygo with the £10 call credit a month she puts on and gets the 300 free sms included. again outgoing sms's to fb not charged but lifted from bundle count.

Thanks for that. DS has got unlimited texts but they have still charged 15p per text for this service.

Whether these are charged, are free or come out of your allowance depends on your provider. When people turn the notifications on, on the facebook site, they are told how much they will be.

But you know what kids are like for reading instructions.
