PAC code problem with TMobile

Last month I gave 30 days notice to TMobile as my contract is due to end in a few days. Today I rang them to get a PAC code to transfer my number to my new provider. They said they were unable to give it unless the 30 days notice was re-started, which would of course incur an extra month's line rental!

Does anyone know if they are they allowed to do this please?

By definition, a PAC can only be generated for an open account. So its the case with all providers that you can EITHER give notice OR use a PAC.

So to give you a PAC they will have to undo the original cancellation.

Thanks, but have just rung O2 and they said that they don't understand why tmobile won't do it and said if it was them, they would be able to give the PAC code any time after the notice had been given up until the notice period ended. So it seems they must be the exception to the rule then.

It doesn't seem fair for them to refuse to give out a pac code, no matter when you ask for it.

I'm afraid you've misunderstood what O2 were saying, they also require you to either give notice or USE a PAC. Where they are different though is that if you use a PAC, they close the account straightaway and you merely pay up to the end of your minimum term. Rather than 30 days.

It's not a case of T-Mobile refusing to give a PAC, its one of the requirements of the procedure (set by the regulator) that your account must be open at the time of the port (which then closes the account) T-Mobile then charge the notice period but not all the others do.

I can't stress how important it is with contracts to read and thoroughly understand your commitments.
