OMG....Aldi is fantastic:D:D I am seriously impressed with their prices and the quality of the veg was really good. Got a HUGE shop for £41. Although the saving was probably negated as I left my purse behind and had to go twice:o
I'm happy to try anything once...is there anything that anyone has really not liked?...Is the meat good quality?Aug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019

hi mimi, i really love all al*i's food, there's nothing iv not liked and iv been shoppin there on and off for 5 years! i do find i cant do a full shop there tho which is annoyin! i havnt managed to get there during the school holidays, had asda delivery instead as i have a disabled son and cant manage shoppin with him, so im sooooo looking forwards to goin there when he's back at school next week.
good luck with your challange x0 -
Hi Bjd,
My daughter is disabled too and pretty limited in what she can do. I tend to go food shopping as an activity (pretty much daily), as she loves the social aspect of it and people are good at interacting with her - hence my horrendous food bills:DAug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019

Well, I got my credit report at the weekend to see what battle-scars there are over the last 25 years or so. Pleasantly surprised, and a wee bit chuffed that I've got the highest rating (a surprise as I don't have any credit cards, which I thought counted against you).
Then I worked out that I've spent £393 in 5 days:eek: Not so chuffed now. My aim is to spend a max of £10 per day including food for September. On the plus side, I've just changed elec/gas suppliers and got a £100 rebate, which will help towards August's overspend.:)Aug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019

Had a very productive day today...said goodbye to DD with a lump in my throat as she went off to school. Had a child free morning and got through 3 huge piles of paperwork and cleaned the house.
Went on the Tesco's site and reclaimed £10.50 worth of lost vouchers, booked car in for service, booked DS into pre-school for next Easter. Beginning to feel back in control again:)
DH has gone back South to stay with family and recouperate after his op. He's been there most of the summer, but he only gets one chance to mend and he can't do it here as DD needs lifting /carrying etc. I must admit I am enjoying the peace and quiet;)
Wild and windy day, taken ferral-child and dog out for a long walk. He's like the duracell bunny...going to take him out on his scooter to see if I can wear him out.....Aug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019

I've bitten the bullet and have gone ahead with reducing the mortgage term from 20 to 10 years. Just waiting for the paperwork. Hoping to make £200 OP per month, which would bring payback down to 7 years.
However, that doesn't allow for potential boiler/car emergencies and will be very tight, so I've got to be very careful. The spending diary is very motivating, almost feel virtuous:A
Got a £68 rebate after switching electricity:)
Toying with the idea of doing Pheonix Trading....just at a low-key level with family and friends. £30 outlay, which is pretty lowrisk, not sure I've got enough motivation though........Aug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019

Thanks Laurasavon,
I've decided against doing Phoenix, I don't think they are as good value as they used to be....
The paperwork for reducing the mortgage term has arrived. However its coincided with OH's salary reducing substantially as he is only on basic whilst on sick leave. Having a bit of wobble...however there will always be a reason not to do it. I won't be able to make any OPs initally, but 10 years is still a good motivator.
Already spent my budget for food, clothes and presents for the month:eek:Aug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019

Mortgage paperwork sent off...... hope I haven't overstretched us.
A good day today. After nearly a year of a nightmare build, it is all finally finished, builders dealt with and final payment made. They've agreed to pay the extra costs we incurred as we had to move out for nearly half the year, which means we have a more healthy buffer in savings / boiler fund:TAug 2011 £95500 aim to pay off Dec 2019
