Good luck
cheers!
Thanks, at the end of the day there is no way I would have enjoyed a masters in Philosophy, so not getting a 2.1 does not really matter.
I have many other things I want to learn about in life and philosophy degree has given me some skills to help with that.:beer:0 -
studentphil wrote:You might get two 60 to 80 page readings for a tutorial, so it really is not practical to read each of them many many times. I know people say read it again and again but time wise and the volumes of reading it is not really possible. It is pretty much commonly agreed that papers are written in a style that is designed to be not very easy to read, so it is not like reading the Sunday paper.
I disagree with that; I did a languages degree many moons ago and it wasn't unusual to read 5 books a week (including some philosophy like Kant, Nietzsche or Descartes in the original languages). 160 pages for one tutorial would have made me feel as if I were slacking! On top of that I worked part-time to keep my head above water. One thing I didn't do was doss around on computers for hours on end because they weren't widespread in those days!Touch my food ... I am just not a good reader and I am not on the right course because of that. That is just the way I am. I am not cut out for this degree.:beer:0 -
Phil, stop worrying about the class of your degree and just work as hard as you can. I think we all realise you are doing the wrong subject, but I think at this point any degree will look better on your cv than quitting half way through your final year. Yes, it is sad you didn't make a better choice but there is nothing we can do about that now! As you say yourself, any degree will be an achievement, and you've clearly shown in some modules that you are capable of alot.0

I am not sure how many hours I really need to spend on it probably about 100 hours a week is probably what I need to spend with how slow I read the stuff. If I enjoyed it I might be do 3/4 of that, but when you hate it and it makes you so depressed that you can function about 3 hours a day in a happy mood, it becomes harder and harder with every word.
I will try to do more than I do now which is probably about 30 to 35 hours a week in a deadline week which is good going compared to what others seem to do.:beer:0 -
I have enjoyed 80 credits in the whole degree.
One theology module
One Economics module
Two Computing modules (one in programming and one on databases)
Other than that all the rest of it is has been rubbish and as far from enjoyable as you can get. I thought university was meant o be the best days of your life.:beer:0
