My wife has a credit card, but her name on the card is spelt incorrectly, dispite advising of this over the telephone. Is it possible to get out of paying the outstanding amont because of this error.
Thanks

Absolutely. She should also receive compensation of £100 for every letter out of order in her name. So, for example, if her names is 'Tracy', and it is spelt 'Tarcy', she will receive £200 (for the a and the r).
As you can imagine, names such as 'Margaret-Jane' tend to be more profitable.0 -

In this instance yes you could certainly do that. You are a lucky man. Just call your credit card provider and request the debt to be written off because they got the name wrong. They will do so no questions asked and confirm it in writing. :rotfl:I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0 -
Sometimes you wish posters could somehow be forced to read and respond to the replies to their ridiculous posts.
Think about it jono46, even if there was a case to be made that the person in whose name the card is registered is not your wife, she has now told the lender that she is responsible for it and that the name is mis-spelt.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Ask to be put through to the fraud department, as you feel a fraud application has been put thoughDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Don't see why not. Just phone up and ask them and they should do it right away for you.
They will probably give you another £250 for any inconvenience caused.
Let us know how you get on.0
