Thank you Fizzy, only just seen your post, for some reason every so often my notifications stop and I have to set them up again. I'm very pleased to see the new sets, having withdrawal symptoms now we have all the friends sets.
  • Does anyone know of a better deal than amazon for the Lego Star wars Frigate set 7964, £69.73 at Amazon at the moment. I tried to get it on the Tesco 3 for 2 but my order wasn't fulfilled.

    Many thanks.

It might be best to start with one of the brick buckets, and they can often be picked up for a good price and a green base board, as these are not tied into any theme. I would monitor amazon, argos, sainsburys, tesco etc for prices, plus check out the original RRP on UK version of www.lego.com .
Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:

I'd go for a decent sized brick bucket as well. Although I'd keep an eye on how many wheels, windows and doors there are in it. From experience there usually aren't many and you may need to pick up one of the extra wheel / window / door packs.

My girl and my sister's boys have a great time making cars and houses and the extra bits in those packs are a god send.

As for the lego kits of cars etc.... only you know whether your boy is capable of doing them. But one option is to pick up a few of the small sets to see how well he's able to follow the instructions.

  • my 4yr old has only ever had the kits. He can with adult assistance/ reminders put the smaller ones together as knows to look for the bit on the booklet and put it on.

he's not got any 'brick buckets' as such.

You might be surprised at how quickly they pick up the idea of following the instructions even on a semi-complicated (for their age) set. For example my son built this on his own at 6...

LEGO Atlantis Guardian of the Deep

But also the general buckets are a good idea too.

Any advice on whether to go for Lego Duplo or Lego Bricks for a 4 year old girl?

You could try and get him some of the sets that are free with The Sun this week. Collect from WH Smith or Toys R Us.

They are ideal size for new Lego users.
