Is this boiler replecement quote fair?

Wow, thats cheap... too cheap. Especially if he is replacing a heat only with a combi.
If thats the case, why is he replacing it with a combi? Also, will he be taking the old tanks out and tidying up the pipework?
If its a new boiler installation then he should be powerflushing the system before fitting it, does the price include this?
If I were you I would get another couple of quotes as that price seems too good to be true.0 -
Oh sorry Macman, yes we asked for a combi, tbh this is what I've always had in the past, can't stand having to wait for the tank to heat up water, plus the bulk associated with housing it (can't put in loft due to conversion). Reason for my original post was because I didnt really trust the guy, seemed cheap, but at same time didnt want to dismiss totally. I think from what everyone has said, my gut instinct was correct. I'll get more quotes once a few other things are sorted first (only got this quote cos he fitted my cooker!)
Thanks0 -
Fitting a gas cooker and designing and installing a complete CH system are two very different things...a good GSR CH engineer will have enough work to do just that and not bother with smaller gas-related jobs.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Oh, I don't really agree totally with that.
Gas cooker installs are something that can be fitted in on the way home, or if a boiler change finishes around lunchtime etc etc.
Cooker install is an easy £80-£100 job and I won't turn them away.0 -
We paid £1800 for ours back in... 2008, but it's a different make to that one. xSarah.

You must must must ask for his gas safe number and just check him out on gas safes website there is so many people out there fitting boilers who aren't competent to do so
I would say get more quotes Cheapest is not allways the best as a heating engineer.
i go to so many jobs were people take the cheapest price then phone me up because they dont want to use them again
and btw get a intergas combi far and above the best combi you can buy today0 -
Oh sorry I wasn't referring to that and wouldn't dream of enquiring. It was the earlier post where you said that a combi replacement labour cost was fair at £500. But I thought these only took two days. So that would be a £250 per day labour rate then?
