Price of broadband?!

Hi

I just range Virgin and was told I will pay £26 per month if I want just their broadband. Am paying around £28 for phone (never used), TV (never used) and broadband. I am happy with the service but not with the price!!

Is this the going rate? I don't have a BT liine to my house so can't go to Sky I don't think.

Please help!

Standard new customer BB only rates are..

    10Mb £21
    30Mb £28.50
    50Mb £35
    100Mb £45

Your £26 doesn't match any of those. If you have 10Mb phone them up and choose the "I'm thinking of leaving" option then just ask for them to match the new customer rate. If you have faster you are doing well.
  • Cheers - it's £26 as part of a bundle, thnk she said would be £28.50 if I drop freeview & phone :(

Not sure what speed it is or how to find out?!

    Thanks
  • Hmm have just rung them again and found that I am getting 10MB so asked why it is so much.

Managed to get phone line and 10MB for £21 per month now he said other person was mistaken with that price!! Good job I rang back.

    Thank you:j
  • Just to let you know, you don't need a BT line to get sky. It just saves them money if it is as it's a simple rent from BT rather than a rent from another unbundled company.

The only time you need a BT line is if you can't get sky broadband and have to go on their connect package which is just a rebadged BT product

You do of course need a landline to receive any kind of ADSL broadband. All lines from the exchange to your property are maintained by BT Open reach.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

True, you can, although they don't like it, use Sky with a Virgin phone line too.

You also need to have a BT/Sky line if you want anytime, it doesn't work on any other provided line or internet connection (stupidly=)

No you can't, at least not in the OP's case-they are on VM cable (not Virgin National).
You can't get any ADSL broadband service on a cable line.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • just a heads up, you'll probably have to pay a £13 cost for phone line and a £50 one-off activation fee, they're not as cheap as they like to make out they are
golf tickets (gleneagles), £20 'toys r us' voucher, Baron Amarillo, £100 of HMV vouchers
