but the adviser did know the law, that's why they stated it, they may just not have known that it'd changed. you can't criticise someone for not knowing something had changed. they might have been off the day that memo was circulated.
does that mean that no-one should ever state anything ever again on the off-chance the law or fact has been changed without their knowledge?helpful tips

but still a pharmacist on duty that day
I dont suppose many stores have a team of pharmacists on hand to cover all eventualities
obviously it depends on the wording of the regulations/law but perhaps its a case of a pharmacist being on duty in the business day0 -

also, you can't be lied to if the adviser from customer services doesn't know that the law changed allowing them to open. that's not a lie, it's just inadvertently handing out incorrect information.
Exactly to be lied to the information must be
(a) Factually incorrect at all levels
and
(b) The person giving the information must be aware they are giving factually incorrect information.
Someone passing on what they think is true, but is actually false, is not telling lies.
I do appreciate that the OP feels put out.0 -
My Bold:...although the law might have changed, it might still be company policy to not open if they don't have a pharmacist for the day, bearing in mind that their raison d'être is as a pharmacy.
I must disagree with this. The normal big town/city branch of Boots is huge with shelf after shelf of non-pharmacy goods. There are also separate sections of the store for perfumes, photography, opticians, baby goods and so on. The actual pharmacy department is usually a small counter in the back corner well away from the main shopping area.
The same happens in smaller branches, but there is not enough space for separate sections.

You can criticise them. It might be their duty to get up to date. It might also be the duty of the company to circulate this information to those who communicate with the public. Most functions in Boots are little to do with being a Pharmacy these days and it all sounds like the weakest reason for not opening one can imagine.0 -
it might sound like a weak reason, but it might be their reasoning.
anyway, it's their decision if they open the store or not, for whatever reason. if they want to close for tea and toast, so what?helpful tips

I wanted to go to Waterstones the other day. They were shut due to their fire alarm having been triggered. I threw myself upon the pavement and sobbed. How dare they?! They said they had my book in stock! I'll never, ever trust them again."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

i'd go one step further and just never read anything ever again, incase you benefit waterstones in any way.
that includes not reading this reply.helpful tips
