Which Netbook

I think you can't go wrong with an Asus netbook. Great battery life, and very robustly built. Had mine for nearly 4 years now, and it still works perfectly. I know many people with Netbooks that have died after a couple of years, or the battery life has diminished so far that they can only use them plugged in now. Defeating the point of netbook entirely.
Whatever you go for, if it has less than 5-6 hours battery life, avoid!0 -
What kind of budget are you looking at?
This is as cheap as I've seen for a new dual core:

You can get slower single cores for much cheaper.
Alternatively, £149 gets you a decent 10" tablet (Archos 101)

That costs £219; this dual-core netbook is £174 delivered from Argos Outlet

For another £17 you can get the 8-hour version

Yes not bad, but I was deliberately only talking 'new' rather than refurbished (which they both are) for the sake of the OP0 -

However, if the OP will be using it outdoors then he should find out if the Acer has an anti-glare (matt) screen; if it doesn't, then I would go for the HP.0 -
Samsung netbooks are a good buy. They seem to be quite durable and the battery life is one of the best. You do not want one with a glossy screen - it'll drive you mad on sunny days.0
