You could do worse than an iPad - for web surfing and email it's very usable.0

Netbooks are all very similar specification wise, they all tend to use the same Atom processor.
A lot only come with 1Gb of RAM which makes them a little asthmatic.
Also check battery life, a 6 cell battery is preferable.
I've a Dell mini 10 1018 myself, not as stylish as some of the Samsungs but works well for me, after putting 2Gb RAM into it.
If you want an expensive toy rather than a computer go for the iPad ( dons tin hat!:D)

Dell seem to have an offer on ATM, click through from the Nectar site for a few points.
PS Have not looked at HP but since they are pulling out of hardware manufacture they may have some bargains. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

it's also double the price of a netbook and it's not fantastic for emailing. The iOS touchscreen keyboard can be rather annoying and time consuming to use.
This one looks like a decent deal - Samsung N150 - http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/technology/best_sellers/121631731_samsung_n150_intel_atom_n455_1gb_250gb_101_black_netbook.html?CAWELAID=8678471470 -

No that is including VAT0

That's a good price compared to a lot of other stores.. you might want to think about getting John Lewis to price match, although Costco has comparable customer service and cover.

I have a Hannspree SN12E2, which I would easily recommend due to it have a dual core processor instead of the Atom single core. Specs wise, it blows any other netbook out of the water. Unfortunately, they seem to have disappeared.....
I managed to pick one up from Misco for £2390 -
What kind of budget are you looking at?
This is as cheap as I've seen for a new dual core:

You can get slower single cores for much cheaper.
Alternatively, £149 gets you a decent 10" tablet (Archos 101)
