Although having said that HBOS do use Call Credit for anti money laundering checks (unrecorded)Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I think that may be just for the Aqua card, as the they used Experian for the money laundering check for my Clarity cardDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

I tried to upgrade my basic cash card account to current account in Feb 2011 with Halifax and got declined. It showed up in Experian File and not equifax file. But then I wasn't enrolled to electroll.
I have one default of £250 and made a full and final payment recently and yet to be updated in my credit file. And on electroll records at my present address for 6 months.
Do think I could still manage to get current account with LTSB or shall I give it a go at Halifax??0 -

Have any kind people got a reply for my question from yesterday below? When lenders state in their conditions "only apply if you're free of CCJ's, defaults etc" are they truly strict on this? Do people get accepted if they do have a CCJ thats a few years old, or have a defaulted file? I ask because my wife foolishly, has a defaulted but settled CC from Lloyds from 2 years ago. Could she apply for a new card elsewhere and get accepted? Is this possible?0

I would suggest no, if say you have one settled default from several years ago amidst an otherwise perfect and thorough history you still stand a chance of approval.
The other factors of course still apply, the deafult / CCJ will have less of an effect the older it is - two years old is recent.
If there's a plethora of great repayment history since then and no high debt levels there will be a better chance.
If, however, there's a default from a couple of years ago and little history since - i.e. just a bank account - the effect the default will have is less.
I have on my Experian credit file 45 accounts, 5 of which are active, 6 of which are defaults from ~ four years ago.
If however if I'd not opened any accounts in the last few years and I had 6 defaults against a total of, say 20 accounts, the impact they have would be much greater.
Despite my Experian file being in tatters going back beyond 40 months ago, HSBC were happy to give me a full bank account, cheque guarantee card, and £1,000 OD, due to my exemplary more recent account conduct.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I defaulted CAP1 in 2006 for £250 and settled full and final on 2nd Aug 2011. Credit file also contained information about my LAPTOP loan from hitachi captial in green in 2006 that I repaid on time.0
