Appeal against Barclay Initial Card

Hi,
I was declined by Barclay initial card recently and wanted to try my luck by appealing against the refusal.
I don't have any credit association for few years now, just have a basic bank account. Have been on electroll with my current address for 6 months and full-time employee of a blue chip organisation and earn much more than 10K.
I mentioned about my grievance politely using a sample template on MSE but made sure that I did not show any signs of desperation. And also attached my utility bills, Bank statement and Pay slips of 6months.
Just thought of giving a try and see if it works!!
Would it have any adverse effect on my credit file if I appeal against the credit card refusal ???

What is 'much more than 10k' exactly ?0

Certainly wouldn't have an adverse effect to try.
Do you have a full bank account? If not, that could be your first step. LTSB are good and can give full accounts to those with a sparse credit file. Also, a mobile phone contract.
Once you've had a full bank account and mobile phone contract for a minimum of six months, preferably more, try for a Capital One Progress card - they should then accept you - they accepted a colleague of mine who's only credit history is a bank account and a couple of months on a mobile contract.
Good luck!Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

@izools: Thanks for the advice.
Do you know which CRA do LTSB use for credit check????0 -
Probably all 3, as is the style these days for most UK retail banksFriendly greeting!0

LTSB check Experian only
Two years ago they gave a friend of mine a full account and £250 OD with a "Null" file (no ER registration, no links, no other accounts, no address links, nothing)... Whether they're still this lax is unknown, but a good sign nonetheless!Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

"LTSB check Experian only
"
Are you sure this is true? I've seen contradictory information on the "who uses who" table. Surely Lloyds would use them all.0 -
Nop. I've helped four people apply for LTSB current accounts in recent years, plus myself, and in all instances they've only checked Experian.
That spans from four months ago to three years ago.
They used to check Call Credit also but haven't experienced this myself.
EDIT: Are you perhaps confusing who they report to, with who they check? Most creditors report to all three credit reference agencies but only check one (sometimes two - Cap One especially).Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I'm defintely talking about who lenders search. I find it hard to believe that someone as big as Lloyds wouldn't use equifax as well. Anyone else got any experience on LTSB credit checks for CC?
Im doing a bit of personal research into CC's and trying to find one thats right for me, and also trying to give myself the best chance of getting accepted. My experian file is good and this is good news to me.
When lenders state in their conditions "only apply if you're free of CCJ's, defaults etc" are they truly strict on this? Do people get accepted if they do have a CCJ thats a few years old, or have a defaulted file? I ask because my wife foolishly, has a defaulted but settled CC from Lloyds from 2 years ago. Could she apply for a new card elsewhere and get accepted? Is this possible?0 -
Lloyds banking group, including Halifax and Bank of Scotland only search Experian. I have previously applied for Lloyds current account, Halifax current account and Halifax credit card, all have only searched ExperianDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0
