I got these on Friday (ordered on Thursday); didn't see this thread until now, but was doing a shop for the office.

Nothing wrong with Viking and their delivery/ordering/gifts.

Where has this protection payment come from too? Just adds on to to the total!!
when you reg there is a ticked box for portection you have to untick if you dont want it. but if you contact them and tell them you dont want protection they should give you it back

    Debt-free and Proud!
ANY MEMBERS WHO MADE ORDERS ON 3RD SEPTEMBER, PRIOR TO 11:50 AND HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR DELIVERY, WE WILL ENSURE THAT THESE FEES ARE REIMBURSED OR REFUNDED.
So if we HAD gone ahead and ordered paying postage we would now be refunded - what a shambles.
They ought to sort themselves and Topcashback out before issuing their next 'offer'.

I know - annoying. We're all waiting for the code to come into force. If we'd not waited and gone ahead anyway, we could recalim our postage back! As you say, shambles - either on the part of TCB or Viking Direct.

  • Wouldn't beat yourselves up too much over not ordering earlier. I ordered mine at 2am in the morning and have had an email this morning saying I could either pay postage or cancel order so u haven't missed out.

    Anyone else had this?
  • I've had an email saying pay postage or cancel. Anyone know if/what TCB is doing about it? If anything :(

Why don't you go to TCB to find out?

If you did you'd find this statement of apology:

  • I think if you went THROUGH Topcashback and ordered before 11.50am on Saturday Topcashback themselves are saying they will REFUND you the postage costs because of their mistake!

If you ordered AFTER 11.50am or any time on Sunday you have to leave a comment here ; http://forum.topcashback.co.uk/Viking-Free-Delivery-Offer-Followup-Thread-m13666.aspx requesting a refund

I too was poised to order but waited to see if the code would actually work , which it didn't of course so I didn't bother ordering ... Saying that , am very happy with my orders and chocs I got and did make an order before the free delivery TCB announcement and paid postage as its still good value for a small item as the chocs are £5 in supermarkets ... I got the 49p telephone wipes as I actually do need the wipes!

TBH I'm not surprised Viking pulled the code as advertising free chocs with a 9p sharpener to millions of people probably was NOT the way Viking were expecting / wanting it to go especially as they didn't seem too thrilled after the first free delivery problem!!

I only don't like the fact that with Viking the VAT added really does WHOP up the price as even though TCB are refunding peoples postage if they went through them it is in fact MORE than £2.90 as they add VAT on the postage costs as well and you have to watch they don't pop the 'insurance' payment on as well , so all the items I got weren't 'as cheap' as I initially thought once the VAT addition had been added to the order!
  • Slightly off topic, but are there any similar shops to viking online?
