    I see what you mean but to be fair I am genuinely self employed. When you file a return your travel expenses go down as one figure.
  • It would be HMRC that decide whether you are self-employed or not, as per the tests on the first page.

    I'd be consistent with what you have been doing in prior years and caveat yourself as per the above advice in the white space allowed.

    I think they would be more suspicious if suddenly there were no expenses on my horticulture work. I just want to be as open as I can.
