Did a factory retore this time and the problem went away.
She then downloaded the same application stuff and the same problem came back. Her current view is just to put up with it.
Thanks for all the help on this one but she will just have to run with it.
  • My new Acer kept freezing so I was advised to back up on DVD then do factory restore. When I put my DVD back in to restore, I can't find any files at all, other than Acer pictures. All my photos and documents seem to have disappeared but they seems to show up when DVD was loading. Any idea where I might find them? I put them in C:\users but when I search this there is nothng there.

She doesn't necessarily have to put up with it, it might be simple enough to try to make a registry fix if we know where the file is.

If you want to look for the file, this is one method:

First download OTS and run it (oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTS.exe)
    • Press the red None button (so the basic scans say 'None).
    • Copy/paste all these lines in bold into the yellow 'Custom scans' box on the bottom left:
    c:\program files\*spurs*.dll /s
    c:\program files (x86)\*spurs*.dll /s
    c:\program files\Infineon\*.dll /s
    c:\program files (x86)\Infineon\*.dll /s
    c:\program files\*TPM* /s
    c:\program files (x86)\*TPM* /s
    c:\program files\asus security center\*.dll /s
    c:\program files (x86)\asus security center\*.dll /s

    • Press Run scan.
    • Paste the results that come up in notepad (ots.txt) here.

What application stuff was downloaded by the way?

Edit: Of course, you could just uninstall the Infineon TPM Software since I'm guessing you are unlikely to get any use out of it.

Exactly what method did you use to backup to DVD?

What do you mean they seem to show up when the DVD was loading? Did you see any of them?

It all depends on what you've done, and there's not enough detail yet to know for sure.
