  • If selling the house covers all the debts and gives you a clean start then theres not much choice is there especially as your adding to your outgoings by adding another member to the family.
But thats the point how can i sell the house pay of all the debts then i cant get any benefits so how can i get another place to live as i want have any money. im in a bit of a pickle

why not get your uncle to clear your loans for you?
Then you can pay him back with the repayments you would normally make on them and your house wont need to be reposessed.
but then I would loss my ESA so how could i afford to live
  • OP, I don't think you will get the answer you want to hear here.

Have you spoken to any of the (free) advice agencies about your debt problems? If not, can I suggest you do. Have a look at the debt free wannabe board on this forum for more info, or contact CCCS Tel: 0800 138 1111 and National Debtline 0808 808 4000.

You can't sell the house to pay off debts when on benefits, you have to go bankrupt. The best option would be for your Uncle to clear your debts and you pay your uncle what you are now paying out for debts.

If the companies you owe debt too force you to sell your house then you need legal advice, but you could be landing yourself in hot water by selling it to your Uncle, paying the debts and claiming housing benefit.
How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.

Then, for this situation, you need to seek legal advice. Give the numbers a call that sleepless listed, and, additionally, ring the Benefits Enquiry Line, you don't have to give your name, but they may be able to advise further also.

  • Is there any way my uncle can help and im still able to live afterwards. Seams really silly that I have to go bankrupt to pay my debts then we would be given a place to live and the rent paid to a landlord.

Is there a UK society that covers your incurable disease (esp as you mention the house has been adapted). If so, perhaps they may also be able to offer specific advice to help regarding the financial situation. I saw a TV advert for Macmillan today that said they help with benefits advice. I know you haven't said what your disease is, but I wondered if there were a similar society for you?
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • wish i could go back to work and start paying the debts back.
