Replacement for Nobilia kitchen required

  • Hi, I need to chose between a Hacker kitchen and a Nobilia kitchen. The price difference is ~15% with Hacker being more expensive. Worth the money?

Any other basic feedback on how the 2 kitchens compare is welcome. The Hacker kitchen is a Hacker CLassis (Strat Stratos) while Nobilia is Primo (453)

    Thanks!

Between Nobilia and Hacker Classic, I don't see any meaningful differences they are two of the most basic German made kitchens. If you have been quoted on the same type of door (ie not lacquer v/s foil wrap) and the same units with all the same detail and one is 15% more than the other and you feel comfortable buying from the seller of the cheaper kitchen, go with the cheaper one.

Ultimately this is a big purchase and you need to feel confident that the company thats offering the cheaper kitchen is one you can trust and is capable of delivering.

  • Thanks Ryder for the super quick response! Makes sense.
  • We spent ages choosing our kitchen and evenutally went for a german kitchen from Kutchenhaus -Diamond White range. Our builder -who is a fantastic builder it has to be said -tried to persuade us to go with one of his preferred suppliers TK Components from Denton in Manchester or Howdens. We looked at the units and the doors and whilst the designs were nice, the units and doors felt flimsy. We looked at other ranges too, all UK built and found them very wanting. I was blown away by the German kitchens. You could tell just by feeling them and looking at them that they were superior in terms of their construction and durability. I am now a bit worried by some of the reviews on here...the 'bubbling' described by one of the posters is a bit discerning but then again our new kitchen comes with a five year warranty and so any problems like that will be resolved SHOULD they happen. The price wasnt too bad....we have had a kitchen extension and so have bought a lot of units and it came to just under £10k. I will let you know how we get on.
  • Has anyone heard of, experienced or installed a !!!!!!! kitchen. I believe they are a Franco-German company. What does this even mean? Are they at the same level as Schuller, Pronorm or Hacker?

  • Sorry to jump on to an old post, but about to embark on the misery...sorry joy...of sorting a new kitchen. We are having a large extension and lots of work done so our budget is stretched to say the least!...back to German kitchens...Eggersman seemed to come out favourably in this post. How expensive are they? I don't want to waste time going through the whole design process etc as I have already designed the layout and don't want to waste anyones time only to find that they are way out of our price range! We will only need about 6 x 80cm drawer units, 1 sink unit and dishwasher door. We may end up with cheapish worktops for now that we can upgrade in a couple of years, so in this instance want to invest in the units and not buy our worktops from Eggersman ...our flooring is more important at this point! Anyone have any idea what a rough cost would be? (I know there are obviously different ranges but just after a rough idea) Thanks

Eggersman are VERY expensive and apart from a few exotic finishes like slate etc, I have seen very little detail to justify the cost at any level.

I dont think I would be too far off saying that furniture for 14 unit kitchen would start from £15,000 but I am happy to be corrected.

  • definitely out of my range then, thanks Ryder 72...any recommendations for a cheaper one then...was thinking more along the 5-10k bracket. We were just going to go down the Ikea route, but as the kids are getting older the kitchen is going to get a bit more of a bashing and not sure Ikea will be up to the job!

How long is a piece of string.

The difference between 5 and 10 k can make a substantial difference and could mean either a cheap run of the mill kitchen or a decent mid-range European product all other things being equal.
