Halifax Total Mortgage Protection Plan (TMPP) - Can I reclaim?

I was not told at the time of sale i could get an insurance elsewhere.
You dont have to be. I don't know how some people think they need to be but it is obviously doing the rounds somewhere. Probably from some scam claims firm. However, there is absolutely no requirement or expectation that a tied agent needs to tell you that you can get MPPI elsewhere.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I work with the nhs and at that time (and still) receive 6 months full pay and six months half pay my husband also recieves sick pay.
You do not say how much sick pay he would receive and don't forget it would also pay if you were made redundant which most employers would notim starting to think this is a waste of time
If you cancel and then lose your job you may feel differently.0 -
Hi, my mortgage is with lloyds. I had mortgageSure which is their ppi. My complaint is I was never given the option to not take it, it was added on as part of the mortgage and that was that. I also had full work sick pay benefit etc and my mum was guarantor on the mortgage so legally she would have had to cover any payments I couldnt make. There was no need for me to have ppi. I am now getting a full refund of ppi payments.0

Lloyds have never added MPPI to the mortgage. It has been regular premium only.I also had full work sick pay benefit etc
What is your definition of full work sick pay?my mum was guarantor on the mortgage so legally she would have had to cover any payments I couldnt make.
So, Lloyds have strong justification in recommending you took it out and you had good reason to take it out. There was no need for me to have ppi.
Or very good reason for you to have it.I am now getting a full refund of ppi payments.
Not for the reasons you have given though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I don't have to explain to you what evidence I have for this "accusation" but I can confirm my complaint was found to be justified by lloyds and my money is being refunded in full. Not everyone is out to make a quick buck and there are many people who were mis- sold ppi. As I have said in previous posts if people were genuinely mis-sold the ppi they should complain.0

You dont but it would help others.my complaint was found to be justified by lloyds
I dont dispute that. Just that some of the things you have listed are not reasons why a complaint would be upheld or accurate.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). thats because lloyds have been auto upholding all complaints without a review!!!!. you got lucky. from what you said it doesnt sound mis-sold.
"mis-sold" do you know the definition?0 -

PPI insurance is cover to protect your payment if you are unable to work due to accident, sickness or unemployment.
guarantor is a last resort to make your payments if you or your insurance cannot, its irrelevant if you had a guarantor or not. your mummy must must chuffed that you were happy to let her pay intead of the insurance cover.0 -
Yes my mummy was chuffed to help me out if needed. Which she never did need to. In fact I took her off as guarantor as soon as I could. And when I get my £3.5k back I will treat her for her helping. Thanks for your input and take care!0
