Solicitors fees when buying

£1,000 to £2,000 should be fine. There are solicitors who will do it for £500 but you get what you pay for and in MY opinion you are better off spending more to make sure the transaction goes through correctly and ASAP. I have 12 years experiance in property.0

No, you misunderstand. The SDLT1 form is particularly technical and even minor/insignificant errors lead to its rejection.
The form's details can be submitted online if the transaction is a simple purchase of whole, however.0 -

The SDLT form is not optional. The tax itself, as DVardyShadow explained above, is a disbursement (payable to a 3rd party in this case HMRC). Completing the form, however, is part of the conveyancing process. It is mandatory. It may be, as you say, " a major pain in the ****", and you're right, it is technical (though not in most cases beyond any reasonably intelligent/educated individual).
But as I said, "charging extra for it is just taking the XXXX."0
